Bio
Butophane is an artist, producing tekno, tekno-derivates, drum and bass and maarterreur especially.
Living in Nijmegen in the Netherlands, he started making music at 4. Although it was not much, he became interested and started playing the drums at 6.
At 8 he got his first (acoustic) guitar but didn't really play it because he liked distortion too much.
At 12 he got his first electric guitar, a Hyundai Strat. Still not able to play with distortion, he didn't really play it until he was 16 or 17: he drove up his little guitar amplifier so loud that it clipped and produced distortion/overdrive. Since then he played a lot.
At 14 his friend took him to his first drum and bass party, but he thought it was a bit scary.
Just so when he almost turned 16, he was dragged to a tekno freeparty, being overwhelmed by the area, the music and the people.
When he was 16 for some time, he had experienced some more freeparties and began to like it. Even more, he went partying every weekend.
In 2002 he started producing his own electronic, psychotic noise and he went on doing that.
Late 2008 he bought his own turntables and started DJing under the alias of 'Wall-Extender'
It was not until 2009 the quality of his produced tracks was to be semi-professional.
Having put all his savings for 24 years into his own sound system, he wanted to throw parties and did so.
Nowadays Butophane uses Fruity Loops 3.56 and hardware combined with Nuendo 4.3 to create his very own sound.
All just to express his feelings or make music he likes. And of course for fun!!
